[MADview] - Point Of View

Today I will make my view on local news regarding firecracker chaos which arouse recently this Ramadan season (in fact it happens each year within every Malaysia Major Cultural Season).

I don’t want to relate any of my thought with other post, entries or articles within the media or internet. This is something straight from my heart.

Its always been a major issue which concern so many side all along citizens. Every season we might heard or experience child being hurt by firecracker. It might seem nonhazardous when we said about firecrackers but believe me there is an act to emphasize how serious this issue toward national awareness.

Which precisely said Under Section 4(2) of the Explosive Act 1957, anyone found to be manufacturing, possessing or importing firecrackers and fireworks can be jailed not fewer than five years or fined RM10,000, or both.

Despite the act of law things are getting worse each and ever year which seem might not ease. While our local authorities tries many approach make it ease, smuggling, distribution and selling activities seem making top notch ahead toward something that can’t be stopped.

What’s disheartening is that most children who are injured while playing with firecrackers do not merely suffer burns, but are left with disfigured and mutilated limbs. This is what we want to avoid. What if this occasions happen to our children, little brothers and sisters. Don’t look further - do we want this to caught up into our own sleeve?

The smuggling, distribution and the sale of firecrackers and fireworks can only be stopped through strict enforcement and the public not buying the contraband. Let think out of the ‘cube’ - high demand from our local citizens is the main reason why the issue arouse in the first place. No demands as equilibrium as no products will be stock in.

As what i can see, the demanded side is also breaking the law indirect way. ‘They’ are the main reason why such hazard product being import into this country.

Come on…

People will never sell if we don’t buy!!

Some offenders do not seriously consider that they are breaking the laws regarding the buying, burning and playing of the contraband.

Hence, the laws should be amended to include the following:

• Action should also be taken against people caught playing with firecrackers and fireworks.
• They who caught up doing any activities link to firecrackers or fireworks without proper license will be ban from having life insurance
• Hefty fines and jail sentences should be imposed on retailers and people caught playing with firecrackers

First thing comes first - actions of stopping people from buying before make the seller operation cut off. That is more appropriate than wasting time abide people from selling while the demand is high!!
