I would like to share what I read today which base on issue in GEORGE TOWN. The issue have been wide spread by the criticism over decision to put up multilingual road signs within heritage enclave there in Penang.

As said by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, it is sure putting the sign board does not bridge any lawful act. He mention that thing have work just well in other places like Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bharu with similar practice for years.

His statement of having adding multilingual sign board while intact the original in Bahasa Malaysia is good and should be support in adequate manner.

What I concern is not the sign itself but more to local feelings. Honestly said that I don’t meant anything offensive but ‘he’ truly forget that people do have heart and feeling which sometimes thing happens.

At least he should ask local views and make decisions base on what best regarding the profit benefit. Just imagine what will you feel if people come and make a change within your area which you’ve long live in peace and harmony.

It doesn’t matter cause event the change is small, the effect might be to big for someone within, Don’t you think so?

As for me, multilingual is good if people do get one word of agreement without having to quarreling around. Thing must go that way cause each and every person is different - like wise said there is more than 20 million people which definitely have numerous kind of feeling.

If possible make change which will not scarce people feeling and vice versa, sound hard is it. In the nutshell, make sure you got everything settle with local folks before considering any change and for acknowledgment - Kuala Lumpur, Johor Baru and Penang have different residential kind of folk. Make decisions wisely. Daa
